John-Paul Bove's Words & Pictures
Here’s the last of the 30th Anniversary covers I did with Guido Guido recreating the famous Dam scene from the animated series. Loved doing these three!

Pink Arcee version; lines by markerguru001Didn’t know if Alex wanted RiD red or Generations toy pink Arcee in his print, so I did two versions- he went with the one that’s in the comics, but gave me the okay to share the pink version here c: (I wanna color a shattered glass verison of this- but does Cosmos even have an SG color scheme?)

So all the artists attending AA have put up their preorders now for black and white sketches so now comes the colours!
Let me know which artist you have ordered the sketch from and which character/s you have ordered. You will also need to let me know which days you will be attending. I will contact them and arrange (if possible) to get a scan of it ahead of the show to have it ready for collection. Where that isn’t possible I will be able to collect it during the show, scan it, colour it and print it. UNLIKE HAND COLOURED SKETCHES YOU GET TO KEEP THE BLACK AND WHITE VERSION AND YOU ALSO GET A DIGITALLY COLOURED VERSION ON GLOSSY PAPER (pretty much like the pic). A4 Prices are: Head shot: £10 Full body: £20 Anything in-between: £15 Simple backgrounds; +£5 Extra characters full body: £15 I will also be able to get A3 commissions printed but these would have to have linework completed before the show to have time to colour and print for collection by Sunday and if not the commissions will be done and posted after the show. A3 commission prices depend on the complexity (an 11x17 inch cover with 10 characters involves a lot more time and work than a pin-up). Let me know what you have ordered and I can give you a quote! PAYMENT by PayPal in advance means the sketch will definitely be ready sooner than payment by cash on the day. Any questions or to confirm a colour commission and leaving me the info above at eponymous@jpbove.com Thanks guys - SEE YOU SOON! j-p

Cap, Winter Soldier, Falcon and Peggy Carter from a recent set of “Phase 2” prints I did with the Invincible John-Paul Bove on colours.

Sexy Cap pics. You like.

Some Marvel Phase 2 post cards I worked on with James “rather good” Stayte.

Here’s another of the 30th Anniversary Covers I did for last month’s TF books. I really REALLY wanted to pull off the G1 animated look here so I had great fun dropping away all the black lines to the background and painting it.In cel animation often the backgrounds would be painted in a lot of texture and detail as they would last for whole scenes (and often be reused) while the objects designed to move would be more simply drawn and rendered as they would be drawn hundreds of times to cover the movement. Hence why Megs has the only black outlines on the page and why he pops forward on the page like a good ‘un.Hope you managed to pick one up!

One of the subscriber covers across the TF books this month. Needless to say it’s a wee bit of a G1 cartoon homage… Megs is heavily based on his Movie levels of damage. Lineart by Art Stallion Guido Guidi and colours by yours truly.

Changeling love

A Valentine’s day present for my then girlfriend, now wife, Jessica Bradley. On introducing her to DS9 she fell in love with the gruff softy that is Odo. Who can blame her?

Digitally coloured by me.

I thought I’d do something a little different…

Colouring is often overlooked and often not understood. You will find lots of articles online about colour theory so I won’t seek to cover any of that ground here but I wanted to explain some of my colour choices in terms of helping tell the story, setting the mood. Colour theory is only part of the story, only a fraction of what’s going on. There’s a lot more I can and hopefully will say on colouring as we go on but hopefully it is useful to readers and aspiring colourists!

Needless to say: HUGE SPOILERS FOR REGENERATION ONE #85.
